Coos Bay, OR - March 10, 2026 — The City of Coos Bay and the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay invite community members to attend upcoming open houses regarding a feasibility study exploring the potential development of a 100-acre site in the city.

The open houses will provide an opportunity for community members to learn more about the study, review initial information, and share feedback with project staff. The study is intended to evaluate whether the site could support future housing development and what opportunities or constraints may exist.

Addressing housing availability is a priority for communities across Oregon’s South Coast, and this study represents an early step in exploring potential solutions that could support additional housing and long-term community growth.

Community members are encouraged to attend and participate in the conversation. We welcome ideas and feedback from residents about how this property could best serve the community’s future needs.

No development decisions have been made at this time, and community input will help inform next steps.

Two open houses are scheduled:

Wednesday, March 11 at 6:00 PM
Eastside Elementary School Cafeteria
370 2nd Avenue
Coos Bay, OR 97420

Wednesday, March 25 at 6:00 PM
Eastside Elementary School Cafeteria
370 2nd Avenue
Coos Bay, OR 97420

Both meetings will be drop-in style open houses, and community members may arrive anytime to review materials and speak with project staff.

In addition, a project presentation will be given during the Port of Coos Bay Board of Commissioners public meeting:

Thursday, March 19 at 11:00 AM

125 Central Avenue, Suite 230
Coos Bay, OR 97420
