HR 5895 Provides Funding for Maintenance of OIPCB Federal Navigation Channel

The Oregon International Port of Coos Bay (Port) is delighted at the passage of HR 5895, providing nearly $7 million in funding for maintenance of the federal navigation channel and associated infrastructure of the Coos Bay Harbor. As a ranking member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Congressman Peter DeFazio has truly championed the Port’s multimodal infrastructure, as well as transportation systems throughout the State of Oregon.

Maintaining our maritime assets is crucial in retaining and promoting international trade in southwestern Oregon. The forestry industry in our port district supports thousands of jobs both directly and indirectly, meaning that the international trade through the maritime terminals in our harbor is critical in sustaining the local economy. Through his efforts on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Congressman DeFazio is ensuring existing and future businesses in Oregon can thrive.
