Photo Contest! Join the Port of Coos Bay in 2018 Celebrating Western Hemisphere Ports Day

April 5th, 2018 is Western Hemisphere Ports Day, celebrating the role that Ports throughout the Americas have in job creation and economic prosperity.  Led by the American Association of Port Authorities, the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay is proud to join hundreds of ports in North, Central and South America, and the Caribbean, to highlight and celebrate the value of Ports.

Ports play a key role in driving local economies, supporting local industries, and providing freight transportation.  The U.S. Census Bureau reports that the value of Oregon goods exported in 2017 was worth $21.9 million, the second highest on record! Oregon goods are transported to global markets utilizing multiple modes of transportation, including rail and maritime vessels.

In honor of Western Hemisphere Ports Day, the Port of Coos Bay invites the local community to help us celebrate through a photo contest!  Submit a favorite picture of Coos Bay Rail Line, Charleston Marina, shipping vessels, or our local harbor via email to, or through social media by tagging the Port and using the hashtag #portofcoosbay. Check out our social media links below!  Winners will have their photos featured on all of the Port’s social media outlets and website, receive a $25 gift card, and Port swag. All media submitted is subject to use in Port of Coos Bay print and digital publications without authorization of owner and is not guaranteed credit.

Congratulations to our photo contest winners: Mike Gray (left), Nathan Hill (middle) and Gavin Clawson (right). Thank you to everyone who participated!
