Director of Port Development
EDUCATION: Graduated from West Albany High in Albany, Oregon. Attended the Oregon Institute of Technology, receiving a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED: Fred is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He has also served as Chair for the Lower Umpqua Economic Development Forum and the South Coast Development Council Boards of Directors, and continues to be active in the promotion and advocacy for transportation infrastructure improvement as a tool for long term economic development.
WORK HISTORY: Prior to becoming Plant Manager at American Bridge Manufacturing in Reedsport, Oregon, Fred served as a product engineer and project manager with a variety of manufacturing companies in Oregon. Fred has designed electro-mechanical accessories for the recreational vehicle, off-road, and highway truck industries, and pressure vessel, heat transfer, and processing equipment in the petrochemical processing industries. Fred brought to the Port project management and contract administration experience from his work in the heavy fabrication and transportation construction industries with American Bridge Manufacturing.
FAMILY: Fred is married to Megan, who is a practicing attorney in Coos Bay. They have five children attending school in the North Bend School district.
HOBBIES: Fishing, hunting, learning to golf and traveling with his family
COMMENTS: As a native Oregonian, Fred has spent his career pursuing his passion for improving the quality of life in the state by improving the quality of its economy. Fred sees his role as Director of Port Development as a continuation of that effort, and views the Port as an integrated operation contributing to the overall well-being of the Southwestern Oregon region, and to the State of Oregon as a whole.
