2016 Charleston Marina Dredging

Dredging is a vital part of sustaining mobility within the Charleston Marina and in the Coos Bay harbor. The Port obtains permits to continue ongoing maintenance of the dredge. The purpose of dredging in the Charleston Marina is to maintain the depth of the water so that vessels can safely navigate the waters in the marina and shipyard. The goal of dredging is to ensure that proper depths are maintained as authorized by the US Army Corp of Engineers. This not only provides for safe navigation but also safe moorage for all marina customers. The Port used USACE dredge to d remove high spots throughout the marina and shipyard in an effort to maintain proper depths throughout the complex.
