Martin Callery
Martin
Callery joined the Port District in July 1992 as Director of
Marketing. Before moving to Oregon in January 1990, he was vice
president of a regional marketing communications and advertising
firm with offices throughout the southwest United States. Martin has a
Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/Mass Communications from the
University of Texas at El Paso, and has completed Master's level
course work in Marketing Management. He taught communications
courses at UT El Paso for several years in the early '80s.
In July 1993, Martin's position was expanded to include all Port
communications. He is responsible for promoting the Port's North Bay
Marine Industrial Park, directing marketing and advertising for the
Port's Charleston Marina Complex, working with public agencies and
private industry in economic development efforts, and promoting
maritime trade and commerce in the Port of Coos Bay. Martin also coordinates
activities in the
Coos County Foreign-Trade Zone No. 132.
Martin is active in the local community. He was a member of the
Bay Area Fun Festival Committee for several years, and is involved
with the Charleston Merchant's Association. Martin also serves on several
subcommittees of the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce.
In November 2005,
Martin's position was changed to include his involvement with
transportation issues and projects. At
the state-wide level, Martin serves on the Governor's Freight
Advisory Board, is a regional representative on the Southwest
Area Committee on Transportation, he also served on the
ConnectOregon Consensus Committee and is a member of the Rail Users
League (ORULE).
Martin is married, and he and his wife Suzy enjoys traveling around
the world.
