The Oregon
International Port of Coos Bay has initiated the scoping
process for the development of a 1,700-foot-diameter
vessel turning basin near the proposed Henderson Ranch
waterway. The turning basin would serve three
facilities at the current time: the Roseburg Forest
Products woodchip export terminal, the Jordan Cove
Energy Project LNG berth and the Oregon Gateway cargo
facility. Other lower bay marine development would also
benefit from this proposed new navigation
infrastructure.
Project Status:
The
Port is in communication with a marine engineering and
construction firm to establish project costs and
timelines, and is working with the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers. Actual construction of the turning basin
would not occur prior to a final decision on the siting
of the proposed LNG import facility.
