National Marine Sales Representative
Kevin Murphy

Kevin Murphy was hired by the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay under contract to serve as National Marine Sales Representative for the port authority and the harbor.  Kevin has the background and experience the Port needs to identify and develop cargo opportunities for Coos Bay.  Kevin has extensive experience in marine transportation, having spent 19 years with the Port of Tacoma as East Coast Regional Sales Manager.  During that time he was responsible for steamship line and terminal liaison, management of major import and export shippers, and coordination of warehousing, distribution and project cargoes for many port customers.   

Prior to his involvement with ports, Kevin spent 10 years working for major steamship lines, including Prudential Lines, Farrell Lines and Waterman Steamship Lines, with increasing responsibility for sales and sales management.  This work experience provided valuable knowledge of ocean transportation, port and intermodal operations, and the rail and trucking sectors of logistics management.   

Kevin holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from Wagner College, Staten Island, New York and maintains professional memberships in the International Refrigerated Transportation Association, the Foreign Freight Traffic Association and the Traffic Club of New York.   Kevin currently maintains an office in New York, where a majority of international steamship lines have their North American headquarters and where many major shippers are readily accessible. 

In his free time, Kevin is involved in a notable national athletic recognition event – the Heisman Trust Foundation, where he serves on the Board of Governors, the Athletic Committee and the Heisman Trophy Committee.
