Maritime Operations Manager
EDUCATION: Attended the University of Phoenix and graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration. Dan also attended the University of Houston at Clear Lake where he obtained a Master’s in Environmental Science. He received his undergraduate degree at the Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Geology and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish.
ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED IN: Dan is a registered professional geologist in the states of Wyoming and Minnesota. He is also a licensed asbestos worker, building inspector, project designer, and AHERA Management Planner. He has been affiliated with the National Ground Water Association, Association of Environmental & Engineering Geologists, Institute of Hazardous Materials Management, and American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers. He enjoys participating in JustServe.org community improvement projects and volunteering for restoration of critical natural areas.
HOBBIES: Hiking, biking, kayaking, spinning, ballroom dancing, watching Asian romance/martial art films, adventure travels, and tasting specialty ice creams with my wife.
WORK HISTORY: Dan has served as a director, manager, project manager, regulator, adviser, consultant, business owner and petroleum geologist throughout his 30-year career in both private industry and the government sector. His principal interests have focused on providing technical and managerial support for safety, due diligence evaluations for redevelopment, emergency response plans/actions, implementation of sustainable practices and environmental regulatory compliance guidance for air, water, storm-water, waste, remediation projects and issues of concern.
FAMILY: Dan is married to his wife Henedine (Nanette) Hernando who together have a blended family of seven children and 17 grandchildren.
