Executive Director
Jeffrey Bishop

Jeffrey Bishop joined the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay as CEO in January 2005.  In his role as Executive Director, Bishop is responsible for implementing policy decisions of the Port’s Board of Commissioners, and achieving the Board's short-term and long-term goals.  He also directs activities in the Port’s various business units, including the North Bay Marine Industrial Park, the Charleston Marina, RV Park and Shipyard and property holdings in upper Coos Bay.  Bishop leads a management team of four and a staff of 15.   As a municipal corporation, the Port of Coos Bay serves as a regional economic development entity and as an advocate for transportation infrastructure improvements throughout southwest Oregon.  The Port staff works in partnership with the local marine industry to promote maritime commerce in the harbor.

Prior to joining the Port of Coos Bay, Bishop served as Industrial Development Manager for the Port of Tacoma, Washington, for three years, where he was responsible for the marketing of industrial property, management of business relations for the port’s bulk commodity customers, and management of Foreign-Trade Zone No. 86, the sixth largest general-purpose zone in the U.S. by import value.  He also spent five years with the Port of Pasco, Washington, serving as Director of Properties & Development.  In this role he managed and marketed a real estate portfolio of 1.5 million square fee of industrial buildings and 900 acres of property.  Bishop was also responsible for managing the Port of Pasco’s container and bulk commodity terminals.

Bishop also has extensive experience in public administration, serving as City Manager of Sulphur, Oklahoma, and City Administrator in the cities of Jerome, Idaho, Connell, Washington, and Lansing, Kansas.  He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central State University (now the University of Central Oklahoma) and did graduate work in Public Administration at the University of Oklahoma.  Bishop holds the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation from the CCIM Institute, an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors®, and the Real Property Administrator (RPA) and Facility Management Administrator (FMA) designations from the Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI).
